A Note from the Founder

Let's be real for a second: Most franchises suck.

And the ones that suck don't just fail; they put good, hardworking people in terrible financial spots. They take life savings and turn them into nightmares.

The problem isn't just that bad businesses exist. The problem is that the entire buying process is rigged to hide the truth from you.

When you're looking to buy a franchise, you are flooded with information from the "Zor" (the Franchisor). You read FDDs written by their lawyers. You talk to brokers who get paid fat commissions to sell you the dream. You sit through "Discovery Days" that are nothing more than elaborate sales pitches.

But the one person who actually knows the truth—the "Zee" (the Franchisee)—is notoriously hard to reach. They are often scared to talk, bound by fear, or just too busy trying to keep their heads above water.

That is why I'm building ZeeScores.

I wanted to create a place where the truth could live. A democratized, two-sided marketplace where the people who actually matter—the franchisees—can speak freely.

We are starting with the Home Services industry because it is massive, fragmented, and desperate for sunlight.

Full Disclosure: Right now, this is a "holiday weekend vibe code" project. If you look under the hood, I'm currently just a guy on the internet asking people to fill out surveys. I don't have a massive tech team yet. I don't have venture capital backing yet.

But what I do have is a belief that this data needs to exist.

To the extent that this platform pisses off franchisors, I don't really care. If you run a good system that takes care of your people, you have nothing to worry about. But if you are selling a lemon to unsuspecting families, we are going to expose that.

I have no idea where this project is going to go. Best case? We bring transparency to a guarded industry and save people from making bad investments. Worst case? It doesn't get off the ground, and I go back to my day job.

Either way, I'm planning to have fun with it.
