I'm writing this because I believe in a platform like this. My experience at Groovy Hues has been relatively neutral.

Such terrible guidance from the brand team and the organization of horse power brands as a whole. We were completely led astray during the discovery process. We were not semi absentee. We worked the business. However the large SBA loan we took out made it impossible to sustain the business. New brand president came in and cleaned up shop. The model has completely changed off of the backs of the original franchisees who spend 3-4x in the initial investment that’s in the fdd today- most lost everything.. Less than 20% of the original group of franchisees are still in business. Current franchisees are being sold a completely different system today. Two different businesses in one didn’t work, so they took power wash out. Unfortunately it was too late for us. Be careful of this group. DO YOUR RESEARCH. Talk to the franchisees across the entire organization before you buy.

The model showed great promise, and in less than a year we were actually looking quite well in regards to profitability. Unfortunately, due to the exceptionally large upfront costs via and SBA loan that funnels back into themselves as an extra revenue stream this became unfeasible from the start. It's frustrating, because if we didn't have to take out such high upfront capital and needless monthly costs we would still be in operation.

This business opportunity put a very bad taste in my mouth towards franchise ownership. Everything that I have ever heard that could be related as a negative regarding franchise ownership happened to us in this venture. Expensive vehicles that were not used. Required to hire a full staff from the beginning before any revenue was coming in. Required to spend tens of thousands of dollars on marketing through their platforms... Needless to say, we are no longer in this system. The support team did not fulfill their promises. Most of the original development staff, coaches, support, are all gone with new faces. The leadership changed leaders multiple times during our time in this system. it was a disaster. The business model was broken and they knew it - but they weren't willing to be honest. Too much gaslighting taking place at the expense of people's life savings. What I realize now is that this brand was learning on the fly and moving very fast at the expense of their franchisees who trusted the system and came in early. After reviewing the new FDD, this brand has made some significant changes that may in fact help new franchisees be successful. This was not our first business and it will not be our last. Be very careful in proceeding with this team.
